Day Three: Colonial Williamsburg

We could not have asked for a more perfect day for touring Colonial Williamsburg! The weather was lovely, our guides were exceptional and the students have a wonderful experience!  There was so much going on today we think it best to let the pictures tell the story.  Enjoy!

As you can see, it was a beautiful day. full of fun and learning! Next on the agenda, Shirley Plantation and Monticello! Time to recharge the batteries :)

Day Two: Jamestown

We have come to the end of a very enjoyable day experiencing Jamestown, the first stop on our tour of the historic triangle.  We began our morning at the Colonial National Historical Park, Jamestown with our friend Mr. Kerber. What a priviledge to stand on the same ground where the founding of our great nation began 405 years ago this May.

The students were given an impromptu Q&A session at the Jamestown Glassblowers and gained an appreciation for the art. They also left a wonderful impression, upholding the long-standing reputation of Geneva students.

 
Then the fun of hands-on learning filled the afternoon as we experienced day to day life in the growing settlement of Jamestown.

We ended the day back at the hotel getting ready for our Colonial Williamsburg adventure tomorrow and spending some time playing games with our friends.

It was a glorious day for settling the new world and we are excited to begin laying the foundation for this awesome country of ours! Sweet Dreams, zzzzzzz

Day One: We're here

We've arrived safe and sound and in God's perfect timing! Everyone is tucked in and sleeping sweetly. There is great anticipation for all the week holds in store. The hour is near

So much goes into preparing for a trip of this nature and many people are involved. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered through a great deal of prayer and planning. Coordination between transportation, lodging, meals and itineraries take a huge amount of time and patience. Ongoing communication is a critical component between administration, teachers, parents and students. Preparing materials, acquiring supplies, holding meetings, choosing chaperons, conducting training, and providing team building opportunities, the list of to do's could go on and on,.... And just in case you may be asking, YES! it is worth every minute and ounce of extra effort!

Our week in Williamsburg will provide a lifetime of memories for everyone involved. While the focus of our trip is history and experiencing the sights and sounds of the exploration, colonization, revolution and founding of our nation, it is also about growing up, learning responsibility, experiencing independence, figuring out how to get along and working as a team. Many lessons will be learned, relationships will be deepened, accomplishments will be celebrated and a milestone for many will be achieved.

The count down is winding down and the excitement is building. Thank you for supporting us, encouraging us and making the sacrifices that are giving us the opportunity to embark on this adventure in learning with your students. We hope you will enjoy traveling with us through our blog.
